Judith Bula Wise, Professor Emerita, holds a Ph.D. in social work and social research from Bryn Mawr. Formerly on the faculties of Columbia University and the University of Denver, she is the author of an award-winning nonfiction book, Empowerment Practice with Families in Distress, and the co-editor of the anthology Trauma Transformed. Her list of awards includes an Outstanding Professor of the Year award at Columbia University, a Provost's award at the University of Denver, and an IREX grant to work with survivors of Chernobyl. She is the 2015 recipient of the Mayborn Fellowship in Biography for her biography-in-progress about Edna Baldwin, an early twentieth century playwright and peace activist. Judy and her husband, Chip, live in Boulder, Colorado.
